Your dog isn't anxious. Your dog is sliding.

Watch a dog in a soft hammock and you'll see it — head low, legs braced, weight shifting on every corner. They're not settling because they can't. A sling with nothing underneath it moves the whole journey.

Travora puts a rigid, load-bearing platform under your dog. The surface stays flat whether you're taking a roundabout or braking for a fox. There's no dip in the middle to roll into and no gap to slip down.

Most owners tell us the same thing: their dog lay down within the first ten minutes and stayed there.

  • Rigid load-bearing base

Supports up to 136kg, so even a large dog gets a genuinely flat surface. No sag, no rolling into the middle.

  • Waterproof, not water-resistant

600D Oxford with a sealed PVC backing. Mud, rain, drool and worse stay on top. Wipe it, don't wash it.

  • Ventilation mesh panel

Airflow through the centre and a clear line of sight to you in the front. Dogs settle faster when they can see their person.

  • Folds for passengers

Drop one half in seconds for a passenger or a child seat. The other half stays fully protected.

The blanket lasted about a week

A folded blanket slides off the moment he shifts his weight, and by the second corner he's lying on leather again.

The cheap covers aren't much better. Thin polyester that mud goes straight through. Elastic straps that slacken after a month. Headrest loops that don't fit your headrests. Nothing under the seat, so the whole thing rides up into a heap the first time he stands.

Then there's the part nobody mentions: most covers cover the seat and stop. The door cards, the seat sides, the gap where the belt buckle sits — that's where the hair collects, and no amount of vacuuming gets it back out of a seat seam.

Why a hard base changes the whole journey

Most dog car covers are a sheet of fabric hung between two headrests. Here's what that difference actually means on the road.

  others

Rigid base your dog can stand and lie on

Stays flat under braking and cornering

Completely blocks the footwell drop

Suitable for older and arthritic dogs

Wipes clean without removing it from the car

Folds down for a passenger without coming out

Off in seconds, back on in seconds

Most days it's a shake-out on the driveway and a wipe with a damp cloth. Hair lifts off rather than working into the weave.

When it needs a proper clean, unclip it, hose it down or machine wash , and hang it to dry. It's back in the car in under a minute.

Which matters more than it sounds — a cover that's a hassle to remove is one you leave in there dirty.

Solved the two problems nobody else fixed!!!

two issues with my old cover: my retriever kept sliding around on corners, and I couldn't see her at all from the driver's seat. The hard bottom means she can brace herself properly and actually lie down instead of bracing against the door, and the mesh window means one glance in the mirror tells me she's fine. Add the extra space from the side flaps and she's got room to stretch out rather than curl up in a ball. She settles within about five minutes now — used to take half the journey.

    Finally one that doesnt sag.

Three covers before this one collapsed into the footwell the second my lab stepped on. This has a proper rigid board underneath, so it stays flat. Doubled stitching, metal buckles — not the brittle clips that snapped last time. Six months of muddy weekends and it still looks new.Thank f**k cause i hate washing.

    No more mud stains

Two spaniels, a lot of wet coastal walks, and not a single scratch or stain gets through. The waterproof layer means muddy paws stay on top of it rather than soaking into the upholstery, and the side flaps catch the bit that used to end up smeared down the door card. I stopped booking valets — that alone paid for it twice over.

FAQs

Will it fit my car?

Travora measures 127 x 62 cm and fits the vast majority of estates, SUVs and family saloons — think VW Golf, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class and upwards. Measure the width of your rear bench before ordering. If it doesn't fit, send it back and we'll refund you in full.

My dog is nervous in the car. Will this help?

Often, yes — though we won't promise it. A lot of what looks like travel anxiety is a dog trying to stay upright on a surface that keeps moving. A solid floor and a clear view forward removes both of those. It won't fix a deep-seated phobia, but for the common case of a dog that won't settle, it makes a noticeable difference.

How do I clean it?

For most messes, a damp cloth on the spot — the PVC backing means nothing soaks through. The cover unclips from the base and is machine washable at 30°C when it needs a proper clean. Air dry only; don't tumble it.

Can a passenger still sit in the back?

Yes. One half folds down flat in a few seconds, leaving a normal seat and a belt buckle free. The other half stays exactly as it is.

Will it damage my seats or leather?

No. There are no hooks or clips that touch the upholstery — it straps to the headrests and sits on a non-slip underside. It's designed to be the thing that prevents claw marks on leather, which is usually what people are protecting in the first place.

Is it suitable for two dogs?

Yes, up to the load rating. The flat surface actually works better for two than a hammock does, because neither dog ends up sliding into the other on corners.
